Interventions

Structure / Accountability / Fellowship

Casa Pacifica’s interventionists are knowledgeable, professional, and compassionate guides who will help and empower your entire family to take a constructive role in their loved one’s recovery while fostering hope and unity.

Educate Families Before the Intervention

  • Explain the Purpose: Help families understand the goal of an intervention—to encourage the individual to seek help, not to assign blame or shame.
  • Set Expectations: Prepare families for the potential emotional challenges during the intervention and emphasize the importance of maintaining a calm and supportive tone.
  • Discuss Boundaries: Educate families on setting healthy boundaries and sticking to them, regardless of the outcome.

Plan and Prepare

  • Understand the Individual: Gather as much information as possible about the person struggling with addiction, including their triggers, history, and patterns of behavior.
  • Assemble the Right Team: Help families choose participants close to the individual who can contribute constructively.
  • Create a Script: Assist participants in preparing what they’ll say, focusing on specific, non-judgmental examples of how the addiction has affected them and their hope for recovery.
  • Coordinate Logistics: Decide on the time, place, and structure of the intervention to ensure it is private and conducive to a productive conversation.

Facilitate the Intervention

  • Provide Professional Guidance: As a trained professional, guide the conversation, keeping it on track and minimizing emotional outbursts or confrontations.
  • Express Empathy and Concern: Model a supportive approach, ensuring that the individual feels cared for rather than attacked.
  • Present Solutions: Clearly explain treatment options and provide a ready-made plan for the individual to follow, making it easier for them to say “yes.”

Support the Family Afterward

  • Address Emotional Responses: Help family members cope with their emotions, whether the individual accepts or declines help.
  • Encourage Follow-Through: Reinforce the importance of maintaining boundaries and continuing to offer support in healthy ways.
  • Provide Resources: Offer ongoing guidance, such as family therapy or support groups, to help them navigate the recovery journey.
